The Flying Bishop: Coffee Con. #29 w/ Bp. Luciano Capelli
Most Reverend Luciano Don Capelli comes from the order of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He is currently the Bishop of the Diocese of Gizo, Western Province, Solomon Islands.
Flying as the most practical and geographical way to minister to his sheep, he flies a small light weight plane as part of his regular schedule to visit hospitals, schools and communities, bringing medicine and basic necessities.
Hence, he is known as the “flying bishop” of the Solomon Islands, a nation of nearly 1,000 islands in Oceania.
Bishop spent a big part of his Salesian life in the Philippines and is well admired for his humility and pastoral care for his students at Don Bosco schools, making him known both by Bosconians and Solomon Islanders as the “People’s Bishop.”
